The State of Black Pittsburgh: A Community Forum
Pittsburgh has long been a vibrant mix of technology and tradition, a blending of ethnic customs and civic pride. As our city and its people evolve to meet the challenges of the 21st century, Pittsburgh continues to grow: inspiring new ideas, new businesses and a changing landscape. But can we create a better quality of life for all our communities? How do we make it a city where young people of color can stay and prosper? And how do we make our businesses more equitable and inclusive?
Please join WQED for State of Black Pittsburgh 2017: A Community Forum. The special will air in conjunction with the Urban League of Greater Pittsburgh’s annual “State of Black Pittsburgh” conference. This lively and informative panel discussion will focus on three areas: Strengthening Our Communities, Young Black Pittsburgh and Fostering a Diverse Workforce.
State of Black Pittsburgh will be hosted by WQED’s Emmy Award winning producer and moderator Chris Moore and co-hosted by KDKA’s Lisa Washington.

Now, with new research, funding and clinical trials, animal assisted therapy is on the rise. According to the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, more than 70% of students, and an equal number of school staff, have seen bullying occur in educational environments. The number increases significantly when including social media and other forms of electronic communication. This discussion program is focused on The Marcus L. Ruscitto Charitable Foundation’s “Know What’s Right, Do What’s Right” campaign. It reaches Pittsburgh region children with solutions that prepare them to confront this troubling behavior.
