The Milton and Sheila Fine Collection

March 17 @ 9:00 am

For decades, Milton and Sheila Fine have been advocates and supporters of the arts through their philanthropy throughout the Pittsburgh region. Promised to Carnegie Museum of Art in 2015, the Finesā€™ outstanding collection of contemporary painting, sculpture, photography, and drawing echoes their interest in American and German art from the 1980s to the 2000s. Their momentous gift, which has come to the museum in recent years, highlights significant contemporary artists who have shaped the art world. Featured among them are Mark Bradford, Alfredo Jaar, Jeff Koons, Robert Mapplethorpe, Chris Ofili, Sigmar Polke, Edward Ruscha, Cindy Sherman, Kiki Smith, Rosemarie Trockel, and Christopher Wool. This exhibition, which is offered as a celebration and remembrance of Milton Fine, who passed away on March 27, 2019, foregrounds the importance and impact of the Carnegie International since the Fines actively collected alongside Carnegie Museums of Artā€™s landmark exhibition series. The exhibition is organized by Eric Crosby, Henry J. Heinz II Director, Carnegie Museum of Art, and Vice President, Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh, with Tiffany Sims,Ā Margaret Powell Curatorial Fellow.
