Celebrating 11 Years of Community Impact

Join WQED and Fred Rogers Productions for Be My Neighbor Day in McKees Rocks. Enjoy free family-friendly activities, support local organizations, and celebrate the spirit of neighbors. Inspired by Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood, the beloved PBS KIDS series from Fred Rogers Productions, this annual event encourages families to connect with each other and their neighbors while promoting a welcoming environment for all.

WQED Education collaborates with communities throughout the region to help empower local partners and provide a platform for them to celebrate their unique stories and resources. This includes supporting events like Be My Neighbor Day, and bringing enriching experiences to communities and families across WQED Education’s Learning Neighborhood program.

We’re excited to collaborate with over 30 partners for Be My Neighbor Day. This year, we will embrace the theme of resilience, honoring the unwavering strength of McKees Rocks. 

Guests will enjoy:

• Interactive theater with Gemini Children’s Theater
• Hands-on activities, including “Kindness” rocks, and line dancing lessons
• Historical and interactive exhibits showcasing the McKee’s Rocks neighborhood and legacy
• Special showcases highlighting the community’s spirit
• Meet-and-greet with Daniel Tiger at the McKees Rocks Borough Council
• Complimentary food and snacks provided by local businesses
• Curated book selection, library card registrations, and giveaways provided by the Sto-Rox Public Library
