Lisa Donovan

Lisa Donovan is a writer whose recent books are for children: Birds at the Beach and Beyond and Birds in My Backyard. She conducts related interactive programs in schools and environmental organizations. Pre-pandemic, she volunteered for the VA and recorded books for the visually impaired. She recently joined the board of Pittsburgh’s Aria412.

Ms. Donovan was an assistant vice president working in training and communications at the former Mellon Bank; she then coordinated media relations at the Carnegie Museums. She next worked as a communications consultant for companies and schools in northwest Ohio before embarking on a career in mothering and volunteering.

Ms. Donovan is a past president of the Catholic Charities of Northern Fairfield County (CT) Advisory Board and was awarded the St. Augustine medal by the Diocese of Bridgeport for her work. She designed and taught an interpersonal communications class for elementary and middle school students. She was a board member and tutor for Danbury (CT) Grassroots Academy, where she mentored students in the Danbury school system. She also worked as an adult literacy volunteer.

Ms. Donovan is honored to serve on the board of WQED, an organization she grew up with in a city that she loves. She is particularly interested in WQED’s extensive educational outreach in underserved areas.

Ms. Donovan earned a BA at Grove City College and an MA in Professional Writing at Carnegie Mellon University.
