Daniel Gilman
Dan Gilman currently serves as Chief of Staff to Pittsburgh Mayor Corey O’Connor, where he oversees the day-to-day operations of city government. In this role, he helps coordinate a 3,400-person municipal workforce and leads efforts spanning legislative affairs, strategic communications, and community engagement. He previously held the same position under former Mayor William Peduto, bringing continuity, institutional knowledge, and a pragmatic, solutions-oriented approach to City Hall.
Mr. Gilman has spent much of his career in public service and local government. He was elected to represent Pittsburgh’s 8th District on Pittsburgh City Council from 2014 to 2018. Most recently, he served as Senior Advisor and Chief of Staff to Duquesne University President Ken Gormley, supporting institutional strategy and operational leadership.
Mr. Gilman is excited to bring his longstanding community relationships and public-service experience to WQED, helping expand the reach and impact of its programming and services. He values WQED’s role as a trusted civic institution that strengthens community connection, lifelong learning, and local storytelling across southwestern Pennsylvania.
He was selected to join The New DEAL, a national network of innovative state and local leaders, and has been recognized as one of Pittsburgh’s “40 Under 40” and “50 Finest.”
Mr. Gilman graduated with honors from Carnegie Mellon University with a degree in Ethics, History, and Public Policy. Upon returning to City Hall in 2026, he resigned his voting status on WQED’s Board of Directors and now serves as an ex-officio member.
Mr. Gilman, his wife Amanda, and their two kids, live in Squirrel Hill.
