Hansel & Gretel
Engelbert Humperdinck's fairy-tale opera, with a libretto by his sister, enjoys a reputation for being darkly beautiful, true to its origins in Grimm's Fairy Tales, and a rich orchestration by Humperdinck, an acolyte of Wagner.
