Franz Mohr and the Horowitz Steinway
Franz Mohr, Steinway's Chief Technician since 1965, worked closely with Horowitz, Cliburn, Rubinstein and others. He will appear with the piano that Horowitz played wherever he performed, and which Mohr gave its signature brilliant tone and lightning-quick action. Young pianists will play the instrument. Mohr will speak, take questions, and sign copies of his memoir "My Life with the Great Pianists." For reservations: 412 922-0903.

“Mama” Kadiatou: Kiridi (The Orphan) - A Cinderella Story
Set in a traditional Guinean village, "Mama" Kadiatou weaves the Cinderella-Like fairytale of a young woman who is forbidden to dance and pursue the man she loves by her jealous stepmother and stepsisters. The rich percussive rhythms of the native Sossou, Malinke, and Toma set the tone for a powerful ensemble of more than 15 dancers and drummers.

Sean Murphy, saxophone
The Harmony Museum presents Sean Murphy in the premiere of Ruby Fulton's "Famous Broken Line," commissioned by Murphy and Harmony Museum; the work reflects the Harmonist interest in alchemy. Murphy will also play "Sonata for Alto Saxophone" by Fernande Decruck (1896-1954) with pianist Michelle Bitler; "Tre Pezzi" for solo soprano sax by Giacinto Scelsi (1905-1988); and, with Bitler, the premiere of "Addi[c]tives" for alto saxophone and piano by Pittsburgh's Stephen Barr.
