As the new year begins, we’re making a few updates to WQED’s television schedule — guided by your feedback. Our goal is simple: more of your favorite PBS shows, at times that work better for you. Here’s what to expect.
Weekdays
Starting Monday, December 29, 2025, popular programs will start earlier.
At 11:00 a.m., enjoy double episodes of Rick Steves’ Europe, followed by Antiques Roadshow at noon.
From 1:00–5:00 p.m., settle in for dramas, science, and acclaimed PBS docuseries from Ken Burns, Dr. Henry Louis Gates, Jr. and more.
For families: PBS KIDS remains available around the clock on our free digital subchannel 13.5 (channel 476 on Verizon, 1146 on Xfinity) and via live streaming at PBSKIDS.org or in the PBS KIDS Video app.
We’re proud to offer an expanded evening news block:
- 5:00 p.m. – BBC News: The Context
- 5:30 p.m. – BBC America
- 6:00 and 7:00 p.m. – PBS News Hour
Many viewers prefer watching live. Now, you have two opportunities to catch one of America’s most-trusted news programs — at the hour that works best for you.
At 8:00 p.m., PBS primetime continues as always — Antiques Roadshow, Finding Your Roots, FRONTLINE, Nature, NOVA, and Secrets of the Dead.
Saturdays
Cooking classics continue at 10:00 a.m. — QED Cooks, America’s Test Kitchen, Christopher Kimball’s Milk Street, Lidia’s Kitchen, Pati’s Mexican Table and Cook’s Country.
At 1:00 p.m., enjoy The Saturday Workshop, featuring Energy Switch, Papa Ray’s Vintage Vinyl Roadshow, MotorWeek, American Woodshop, and This Old House.
Beginning January 17, catch Horizons from PBS News at 6:00 p.m., hosted by William Brangham and exploring science, health, technology, and the environment.
Sundays
Sunday mornings remain family-friendly with PBS KIDS favorites — followed at 11:30 a.m. by a classic episode of Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood.
At noon, don’t miss six-hour MASTERPIECE Marathons — featuring Miss Scarlet to Call the Midwife, Grantchester and more.
Beginning January 18, Compass Points from PBS News airs Sundays at 6:00 p.m., hosted by Nick Schifrin and examining international affairs.
On Sunday nights, MASTERPIECE takes the throne. New seasons begin January 11:
- 8:00 p.m. – Miss Scarlet
- 9:00 p.m. – All Creatures Great and Small
- 10:00 p.m. – Bookish
- 11:00 p.m. – Royal Flying Doctor Service

Still Local. Still WQED.
You’ll continue to see local programs — such as Rick Sebak specials and cooking shows featuring Chris Fennimore and Nancy Polinsky Johnson — along with more independent films and documentaries from our region.
Pledge programming remains an important part of funding WQED, and we know some programs can feel repetitive. We’re actively exploring ways to refresh this lineup in 2026 with new health and personal finance content.
Your feedback shaped these changes, and we want to keep listening. Please reply and share your suggestions, or write to members (at) wqed.org. Thank you for welcoming WQED into your home — and for helping shape what comes next.
