WQED Multimedia received a Media and Mental Health Award from the Entertainment Industries Council, which recognizes high-quality, accurate reporting on behavioral health issues in Southwestern Pennsylvania. The awards were presented by keynote speaker U.S. Surgeon General Dr. Regina Benjamin.

The Carnegie Science Center Awards recognized WQED's Pierina Morelli with its 2012 Science Communicator Award Honorable Mention. Ms. Morelli, a producer, videographer and editor was acknowledged for her ability to captivate thousands of viewers with her reports on scientific, environmental and technological issues.

January 12, 2012

Mental Health America of Westmoreland County selected WQED's David Solomon as the 2012 recipient of its Innovations Award in the category of Recovery. Mr. Solomon was recognized as writer and producer of Long Road Home and Losing Lambert: A Journey Through Survival and Hope. The acclaimed documentaries focused on the struggles and success of people dealing with mental illness.
