Think! Community Partners

This installment of THINK! brought together a diverse team of organizations from various sectors to help shape our discussion of poverty. Hear them talk about the issue and their mission in their own words.
Building Community to End Poverty Our mission is to inspire and equip Pittsburgh area families and communities to resolve poverty and thrive. We believe no one should live in poverty. Families and communities can take charge of their destinies. And if given the right tools and support, economic stability can be achieved.
Consumer Health Coalition is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to inspire a consumer movement to enhance opportunities for health and quality, affordable and accessible healthcare in Pennsylvania. We understand that people experience unequal starting points and social drivers which result in inequities in health. We are dedicated to the eradication of disparities in health access and outcomes through education, advocacy and awareness raising projects.
The mission of the Homeless Children’s Education Fund (HCEF) is to advance the education of children and youth experiencing homelessness, guiding them to be productive, empowered citizens. As a national model for addressing the educational needs of unstably-housed children and youth, HCEF leads a collaborative effort among regional partners by providing educational programs and services in Allegheny County and advocating for policy and system improvement.
The Mentoring Partnership of Southwestern PA (TMP) helps children by delivering resources to mentoring programs throughout our region. We promote the importance of quality mentoring; present best practices and research; and deliver training, technical assistance and professional development for the staff and volunteers of local programs.
The National Council of Jewish Women (NCJW) is a grassroots organization of volunteers and advocates who turn progressive ideals into action. Inspired by Jewish values, NCJW strives for social justice by improving the quality of life for women, children, and families and by safeguarding individual rights and freedoms.
