Cathedral of Notre Dame - In December 2024, Paris and the world celebrated the reopening of the Notre-Dame Cathedral of Paris, five years after it was severely damaged by fire in 2019. This week on Harmonia, we commemorate the cathedral's reopening by taking a tour of musical and architectural monuments from Notre-Dame's first millennium.

November 15th is AMERICA RECYCLES DAY, an annual event is to recognize the importance and impact of recycling. Baroque era composers were well-versed in recycling and reusing MUSIC. This weekend you'll hear a variety of repurposed baroque music, including music by later composers who refashioned their favorite melodies into new and delightful compositions.

David Afkham leads the CSO in Shostakovich's Violin Concerto No. 1 in A Minor, featuring soloist Vadim Gluzman, followed by Vadim Gluzman's encore, Serenade by Valentin Silvestrov. Also Debussy's La Mer and two pieces by Ravel: Menuet antique and La valse.
