Je suis desheritée - This week on Harmonia, we're exploring another in our series of greatest hits of the Renaissance. The tune in question is a love song called "Je suis desheritée," and we'll hear it in secular and sacred, instrumental, and vocal iterations from the sixteenth and early seventeenth centuries by composers as famous as Lassus and Palestrina. Plus, our featured recording is Song of Beasts: Fantastic Creatures in Medieval Songs by Ensemble Dragma.
In our next broadcast we revisit a performance of Strauss's Ein Heldenleben conducted by Alan Gilbert and featuring concertmaster Frank Huang as soloist. Before that, we visit the West Coast by way of Esa-Pekka Salonen's L.A. Variations.
