Marina Lopez and Andrew Dewey
The CMU Contemporary Ensemble conducted by Daniel Nesta Curtis give premieres of music by exciting young composers and a modern classic by Steve Reich March 8 with the CMU Philharmonic at Carnegie Music Hall in Oakland. Composer Marina Lopez born in Mexico City, says she benefited greatly from knowing David Stock at Duquesne University and greatly enjoys her work with Leonardo Balada at CMU. Her new piece Fish will be heard along with Hedonism by Andrew Dewey who works with Nancy Galbraith. Both composers fill us in on why you should be there and how it might change your life. They will also lead a discussion during the intermission of the concert.
