Composer Federico Garcia-De Castro talks with Garrison McMullen of Carnegie Mellon University about the upcoming concert by Syracuse University faculty and touring guitarist Kenneth Meyer who will give the first recital in the Alia Musica Presents series for 2018, with a concert at the James Laughlin Music Hall at Chatham University, on Thursday, February 15, at 7:30pm.

The performance will feature works from Mr. Meyer's modern and new music repertory—including works from his 2016 album Draw the Strings Tight, released by Innova, the record label of the American Composer Forum. Mr. Meyer will be joined by Alia Musica's Matthew Gillespie and Federico Garcia-De Castro, playing Mr. Garcia-De Castro's two-piano work Livre pour deux pianos.

Mr. Meyer will perform landmark works Leo Brouwer, the Cuban composer most renowned for his seminal guitar output, Italian Carlo Domenicone, Hans Werner Henze, Pittsburgh-based Curtis Rumrill, and pieces written for Mr. Meyer himself by Jesse Jones and Eddie Hill.
