In the shadow of Cologne's famous cathedral, the PSO played at the adjacenent Philharmonie. Jim Cunningham has highlights from Steven Stucky's Silent Spring (on the composer's birthday), Nikolaj Znaider's Bach encore, Principal Clarinet Michael Rusinek's cadenza in Khatchaturian's Maskarade, and Principal English Horn Harold Smoliar's "Goin' Home" solo in Dvorak's New World Symphony.
