Renaissance City Winds - Jim Whipple and Nathan Carterette - Mar 10, 2017

The Renaissance City Winds perform music from WQED-FM's Collaborative Commision project with Efrain Amaya and Nathan Carterette plays Roussel and Saint Saens  at CMU in the Kresge Theater  Sunday March 12 at 7pm. Nathan Carterette and James Whipple fouding bassoonist for the ensemble discuss and introduce Whipple's transcription of Wiliam Byrd and Amaya's Sidewalk Divertimenti, discuss the history of the ensemble and more.

Pittsburgh Philharmonic - Edward Leonard and Carolyn Carlins - Mar 10, 2017

Edward Leonard directs the Pittsburgh Philharmonic in Sibelius Finlandia with the Warlock Capriol Suite involving dancers from Laroche College plus Dvorak’s Serenade for Winds and Young Artist Concerto Competition Winner- Enoch Hsiao plays the Liszt Piano Concerto No. 2. March 24th and 25th.  Board Chair Carolyn Carlins plays violin in the Philharmonic and provides commentary on the plan from the players view.

Belle Voci presents a concert on Saturday March 11th, 7:30pm at the Pentacostal Temple Church of God in Christ in East Liberty.  The concert is titled "Lift Every Voice and Sing."  WQED-FM's Jim Cunningham chats with conductor Craig Cannon about the concert.

West Hills is the oldest community symphonic band in the Pittsburgh area.

Pittsburgh Youth Symphony Orchestra - Feb 23, 2017

The Pittsburgh Youth Symphony gives a free concert with two concertos featuring Pittsburgh Symphony members as soloist. George Vosburgh plays the Haydn Trumpet Concerto and and Michael Lippman plays the Haydn C Major Cello Concerto with Don Juan by Richard  Strauss all conducted by Francesco Lecce Chong. Craig Johnson Executive Director and soloist Michael Lippman joined the Maestro to preview  the concert.
