Knit the Bridge - Aug 9, 2013

Lead Artist Amanda Gross and assistant Penny Mateer discuss Knit the Bridge, the largest "yarn bombing" event in the US to date, led by the Fiberarts Guild of Pittsburgh. They are directing a campaign with nearly 2,000 volunteers to cover downtown Pittsburgh's Andy Warhol Bridge with colorful knitted panels. The work will be on view August 12th through September 6th, 2013.

The Playground Project - Aug 8, 2013

Robert Mickelsen "Lifeforms" - Jul 15, 2013

Florida-based glass artist Robert Mickelsen discusses "Lifeforms," on view at the Pittsburgh Glass Center through Nov. 17th, which he conceived as a competition and exhibition inspired by the revered glass biological models made in the 19th and 20th centuries by Rudolf and Leopold Blaschka for Harvard University. Fifty contemporary pieces achieve surprising authenticity using a broad range of techniques.

Muzicka - Jul 12, 2013

The young Czech folk ensemble Muzicka performed on the QED Morning Show on July 11th as they began a tour of the northeastern US. Their tour was organized by Elizabeth Shribman, a Pittsburgh native and former WQED-FM intern who now works in managment for the Czech Philharmonic in Prague.
