Henry Spinelli - Nov 8, 2018

WQED-FM Q Award winner Henry Spinelli will give a free 3pm Saturday afternoon recital at Chatham University in the Campbell Memorial Chapel playing Debussy, Schumann, Brahms and Ives. He remembers his teachers at Carnegie Tech, his first visit to Chatham in 1949 and tells us why we should go to recitals. You can discuss it with him over refreshments  after the concert.

John O'Conor - Nov 8, 2018

Dublin born pianist John O’Conor plays  at 7:30 Thursday March 8th 2018 at CMU’s Kresge Theater in a Free concert with Jennifer Aylmer singing Schubert songs and Anne Martindale Williams playing the 3rd Beethoven Cello Sonata.  Series Artistic Director and pianist Dimitri Papadimitriou joins John for Mozart. The tickets are tight but they try to fit everyone in and it will be streamed on the CMU Music YouTube channel. John shares some of his twenty Telarc cds on the QED morning show in this wide ranging conversation with topics including the state of Ireland today.

"Applaud the Light" Event - Nov 7, 2018

Croatian artist Maxo Vanka painted a one-of-a-kind masterpiece on the interior walls of St. Nicholas Croatian Catholic Church in Millvale, PA. The 25 murals—created in two intense periods in 1937 and 1941—are unique, evocative and larger-than-life representations of faith and family; the immigrant experience in America; social justice and injustice and the horrors of war.  On Friday night, the 3rd Annual "Applaud the Light" event takes place at the church, and features our own Anna Singer.  Lynne Squilla stopped by to talk about the event.
