When guest conductor Arild Remmereit made his Pittsburgh Symphony debut in 2005 on one week's notice, the New York Times called Remmereit “the hottest conductor you've never heard of.” He'd just covered for Christoph von Dohnanyi at La Scala and for Rafael Fruhbeck de Burgos. In February, 2007, the Norwegian Remmereit conducted Hummel's Trumpet concerto, Peer Gynt by Grieg, and Carl Nielsen's first Symphony.
