Pittsburgh pianist Tina Faigen remembers her brother Scott Faigen who was a pianist in Mannheim, Germany. Scott passed away in January 2025.

Jacob Joyce conducts the Pittsburgh Youth Symphony Orchestra in a concert titled โ€œPYSO Plays Opera.โ€ The orchestra played opera music by Verdi, Mozart, Wagner, Puccini and Ethel Smyth. Recorded at Heinz Hall on November 16, 2025.

Tuesday Musical Club – Birthday Boys!

Tuesday Musical Club’s upcoming concert celebrates composers born in March, featuring music from Bach, Haydn, Chopin, Bartรณk, and Barber. WQED volunteer Giovanni Mori spoke with organizer Catherine Crotty and pianist Vanessa Schmithorst about the program.

Celebrate March birthdays with Tuesday Musical Club on Tuesday, March 10th at 1:00pm at Rodef Shalom’s Levy Hall. The concert is free and open to the public. More information can be found on Tuesday Musical Club’s website.

Beauty and the Beast Returns to Pittsburgh

Last week, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast returned to Pittsburgh’s Benedum Center for its first North American production in over 25 years! WQED Digital Correspondent Nick Tommarello spoke with Assistant Conductor and keyboardist Connor Doran about this very special occasion.

Born in Pittsburgh, Connor tells Nick about growing up in Baldwin and finding music through his father and his education.

Pittsburgh Opera – Crystal Manich – Time to Act

Pittsburgh Opera presents the World Premiere of “Time to Act” at the Bitz Opera Factory from February 28th through March 8th. The opera follows a group of high school students preparing for a production of Sophoclesโ€™ Antigone, who are joined by a new student, Alona, who comes with a formidable secret.

Anna Singer spoke with Crystal Manich, the opera’s librettist. Crystal talked about the origins of the story; working the composer Laura Kaminsky; and being able to present this in Pittsburgh.
