Two dominant guards in Jude Haigh and Jaerdan Vanbeekum are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Green Canyon Wolves will be home for the holidays to greet the Ben Lomond Scots at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The timing is sure in Green Canyon’s favor as the squad sits on nine straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Ben Lomond has been banged up by ten consecutive losses on the road also dating back to last season.

On Friday, Green Canyon beat Box Elder 73-60. Given the Wolves’ advantage in MaxPreps’ Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked second, while the Bees are ranked 101st), the result wasn’t entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Ben Lomond came up short against Taylorsville on Thursday and fell 66-55. The Scots were down 59-39 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Green Canyon will need focus on slowing down Deshawn Holland, one of several Ben Lomond players who made an impact when they last played. He posted 15 points. Another player making a difference was Bryan Campos, who went 5 of 9 en route to 10 points and seven rebounds.

Ben Lomond’s loss dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Green Canyon, their victory bumped their record up to 9-0.

Everything went Green Canyon’s way against Ben Lomond in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, as Green Canyon made off with a 72-48 win. Does Green Canyon have another victory up their sleeve, or will Ben Lomond turn the tables on them? We’ll have the answer soon enough.
