Thursday Night Jazz: Delana Flowers’ Retrospect of Love

February 27 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Free

Love was patient, Love was kind.

Love felt like losing your mind.

Was it really blind?

Love was

familial, chosen and given,

platonic,

seasonal, casual, forbidden,

romantic.

Sisters, brothers, friends, and lovers,

soulmates, and twin flames,

address and/or name change.

Love was

intertwining souls,

temporary and eternal.

Healing and holes,

inside out wealth,

others and self.

Love was…

Each manifestation of love is a catalyst to our growth as humans. It need not be romantic or everlasting, nor need it be without pain or heartbreak to be meaningful. This performance is about reflecting on love experiences in all their facets through music. Countless songs have been written about the bliss, the burden, the healing, and the heartbreak of love. These songs are life stories, tales of rhapsody and regret. Hindsight gives us the chance to appreciate the gift of human connections that teach us more about our own humanity. So tonight, cradled and rocked by the rhythms of jazz, we’ll look back on all the ways we’ve loved and lost, embraced and gained, and in doing so we’ll give time and space to show gratitude for the loves of our lives.
