“Visions of Peace” celebrates the resilience of the human spirit through works that meditate on conflicts of the past and present. The Sphinx Virtuosi chamber orchestra, which The Washington Post has described as having “immeasurable power, unwavering command, and soulful beauty,” partners with rising star cellist Sterling Elliott for this unforgettable performance. Returning with a fascinatingly eclectic program, the chamber orchestra presents the Pittsburgh debut of new commissions from Jessie Montgomery and Quenton Blanche, Sergei Prokofiev’s “Stalingrad” sonata, and works by a dynamic collection of Black and Latino composers from the 20th and 21st centuries.
