Music at Third presents “Under the Same Sky”, a concert for voice, piano, oboe and english horn interweaving tangos and theater music in Yiddish with fragments from the writings of Etty Hillesum, featuring Raquel Winnica Young (voice/creator), Lenny Young (oboe/English horn) and Douglas Levine (piano/arrangements). Admission is by free-will donation.

Born in 1914, the Dutch Jewish writer Etty Hillesum left a legacy of diaries and letters outlining her spiritual awakening and revealing a complex, vibrant and passionate young woman. A witness to the horror of war who did not succumb to despair, she left a message of hope and an understanding of the human essense. She perished in 1943 after being deported to Auschwitz.
