Fragments of Time presented by Texture Contemporary Ballet
September 20 @ 8:00 pm - 9:30 pm
Fragments of Time will feature Artistic Director Alan Obuzor’s work “Un-Preservation of Humanism”, which first premiered in 2016. This work is set to the stirring and emotional music of Ezio Bosso. In this piece, the dancers are on pointe while melding together movement that is grounded, visceral, and human. This piece abstractly takes a look at human conflict and the way that some groups of people have treated, ‘othered’, and subjugated their fellow humans throughout our existence as a species.
The program will also showcase Texture’s dynamic resident dancers performing a new work by Alan Obuzor. This piece explores concepts of the universe and an individual’s place in it. The sound scape for this piece features a spoken word selection written by Alan, as well as other spoken word pieces and music by artists such as Old Sea Brigade and Gregory Alan Isakov.
