Dr. Kevin Lee Sun (Assistant Professor of Piano, Duquesne University) presents his program LOOK TO THIS DAY, featuring music for piano, alto flute, and soprano. All the music was written by two Asian-American living composers—Hyo-shin Na and Daniel De Togni—whose programmed pieces are centered around the difficulty, ephemerality, and cherishment of life. Dr. Sun will perform two solo piano works by Hyo-shin Na, her Rain Study and Autumn Study. He will collaborate with Duquesne student Maddie Kolenc on alto flute for Daniel De Togni’s Death Poems, and with Pittsburgh-based soprano Wallis Lucas for De Togni’s Songs of Becoming, a 30-minute song cycle.
