The very last performance in the Academy Concerts season will be at 2:00pm, May 10, Mother’s Day, at Central Presbyterian Church in Tarentum. Duo Pragma is violinist Andrew Giordano and pianist Nathalia Kato Giordano, they will be playing the seasonally appropriate Beethoven “Spring Sonata,” and, in honor of the holiday, an arrangement of Dvorak’s Songs My Mother Taught Me. They will be joined by violinist Warren Davidson for some more interesting and colorful music: a few short but fascinating duets for two violins by Hungarian composer Bela Bartok, “La Bella Cubana” by Jose White, and a real rarity, the Suite Antique by Albert Stoessel, a lively 1920s re-interpretation of Baroque dance forms: bouree, sarabande, rigaudon, and gigue.
Admission is free, a collection will be taken to support the music and musicians.
