It was a beautiful thing to get your letter and find out about this portrait of my Uncle Jimmy. He was my mother's favorite brother. She talked about him all the time. And you can also see her face in that portrait. Elizabeth Black pinpointed him to a tee. There is so much of Jimmy in that portrait. He came back from the war with trauma. But I remember him as funny, kind and tall - a gentle giant. What Elizabeth did for those men is unbelievable. I bless her. And all these years later, what a treasure. It's like he's coming home to us. - Colleen Dowdell, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. November 19, 2020.
