My dad died in 1965 and the portrait came to me and my twin sister. We have the original, but it’s in very bad shape. I know he was always proud of that portrait. To me, it meant happiness because it made him happy. I didn't realize the history behind the portrait until we did some research. I thought it was a wonderful thing she did. These men were doing something great for their country and Elizabeth Black recognized that. --- Edwina Mistretta, Vineland, NJ. November 13, 2020
