What a surprise I had when I read your letter. I am Annette Perry Leonard and my father is indeed the Frank Perry from Morgan Street in Chicago that you are looking for. My father was first generation Italian-American and his nickname was Chickie, or as I think he signed his portrait, Chick. His unit arrived at Utah Beach about a month after the invasion in Normandy and he was badly injured on one of the last days of active fighting in the war. He spent a year in Wakeman Military Hospital in Indiana. Like many veterans he never talked about the war or his service, and we were never aware of the existence of any photos of him at that time in his life, so the portrait is especially meaningful to us. Thank you and your researchers for all the hard work involved in getting his portrait back to us. - Annette Perry Leonard, Medina, Ohio - July 5, 2016.
