Schools can host Preschool STEAM Transition Days for preschool aged children who registered for kindergarten at the school. Once registered for kindergarten, the school encourages the students along with their caregiver to attend 4 science and literacy themed days of fun and activities. These activities along with using PBS Kids Ready to Learn content helps to get caregivers comfortable with the school and excited and engaged with their child’s learning. These days happen once a week over the course of four weeks and are used to facilitate a smooth transition from Pre-K to kindergarten. Support materials are also given to Head Start and Early Head Start consultants who work with families individually in their homes in the local area. PBS Kids apps, including Play & Learn, PBS Kids Island, and other Ready to Learn content is introduced and can be used in the home to support family learning and help prepare children for kindergarten.
