Shakespeare, The Tull Family Theater and Quantum Theatre
For one showing only, Sunday, Oct. 20, watch luminous stars Kenneth Branagh, Judi Dench and Ian McKellen present the last days of Shakespeare on film--and learn about Quantum Theatre's upcoming stage production focused on the bard's widow immediately after his funeral.
As All Is True is staged at London's Globe Theater in 1613, Shakespeare is known as the greatest writer of the age. Then disaster strikes: The Globe burns to the ground. Devastated, Shakespeare returns to Stratford, a troubled past, a neglected family, and the secrets and lies of a family at war.
These final days of Shakespeare's life allow bard-obsessed Kenneth Branagh a chance to play the playwright, with Judi Dench as his wife, Anne Hathaway, and Ian McKellen in a "deliciously catty, award-worthy cameo,” says the Detroit News.
"All Is True brings Shakespeare to life, grounds him, and demystifies the legend of history's greatest playwright,” continues the Detroit News.
This extraordinary screening is presented in collaboration with Quantum Theatre, which will be in the house starting at 11 a.m. for a pre-show reception and to chat about its upcoming production of Shakespeare’s Will, focused on the playwright’s widow. The contemporary, poetic one-woman show illustrates the moments following his funeral and will run Friday, Nov. 8, through Tuesday, Dec. 3, in West Homestead. Learn more about the production from the Quantum team!
