Katie O’Connor
Katie O’Connor is a principal in the Pittsburgh office of Jackson Lewis. Katie is a steadfast, diligent advocate for companies in a myriad of employment disputes pending before federal and state courts and administrative agencies. She has represented employers in all areas of employment law, including discrimination, harassment, whistleblower, retaliation, and restrictive covenants.
Katie’s focus is the defense of class and collective action lawsuits under federal and state wage-and-hour laws. She has defended more than a dozen putative wage-hour class and collective actions, ranging from misclassification to off-the-clock and other unpaid time claims, including donning and doffing claims.
In addition to her litigation experience, Katie counsels clients on a variety of workplace issues to mitigate and reduce employment-related issues. Her counsel includes reviewing and revising employee policies, reviewing and counseling management on termination decisions, and performing employment and wage audits. Katie provides training to managers, supervisors, and human resource practitioners in all areas of employment law, including leave management and sexual harassment and discrimination prevention.
When she is not working, Katie is passionate about advancing learning and literacy for families living in Pittsburgh. She is active in civic and community affairs, including serving on numerous civic / charitable boards, Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh; WQED; Homeless Children’s Education Fund.
