Program Title: America’s Home Cooking: Healthy Recipes

National Release Date: February 25, 2005

Rights Period: Unlimited PTV releases 2/25/05 thru 3/31/2008

Description of the Program:
Perhaps it is a sign of the aging baby-boomer generation but it seems like everyone in America is on some kind of special diet. Some people are fighting the battle of the bulge with high-carb or low-carb regimens, while most of us want to follow the conventional wisdom and advice from the heart and cancer specialists to lower fats and add fruits and vegetables to our diet. This program is divided into three sections covering low calorie low carb eating and recipes that reduce saturated fats. Together, these three sections offer viewers a wide range of recipe options that can be used to improve their diets and will satisfy their quest for interesting and delicious meals.

" HI, I'M CHRIS FENNIMORE. AND I'M NANCY POLINSKY. IT IS LATER THAN YOU THINK IN SOME WAYS, BUT WE DO WANT TO ENJOY OURSELVES. THE TOPIC FOR TODAY'S
PROGRAM IS HEALTHY RECIPES. LOW CARB, LOW FAT, LOW CAL. WE'RE ALL INTO ONE OF THOSE, IF NOT ALL OF THEM AT THE SAME TIME. WE'RE HERE TO HELP YOU TODAY EXPAND YOUR RECIPE COLLECTION OF THESE TYPES OF FOODS. THAT'S RIGHT, WE'VE COLLECTED OVER 120 RECIPES IN THOSE THREE DIFFERENT CATEGORIES AND MADE UP
A BRAND-NEW "AMERICA'S HOME COOKING" COOKBOOK CALLED "AMERICA'S HOME COOKING: HEALTHY RECIPES," AND IT IS DIVIDED INTO THOSE THREE CATEGORIES OF LOW FAT, LOW CAL, AND LOW CARB."
Recipe #1: Butternut Squash Soup – (Low fat category)

SO, WHEN WE THOUGHT ABOUT ADDING SOME LOW CARB RECIPES TO THIS PROGRAM WE'VE BEEN DOING, I THOUGHT MAYBE YOU'D HAVE SOME GOOD ONES, AND YOU DID. YEAH, FROM BACK. THIS IS A TERRIFIC RECIPE THAT I THINK YOU SENT TO US WHEN WE WERE DOING AN APPETIZER SHOW OR SOMETHING. ANYWAY, IT WAS FOR SHRIMP WITH ASPARAGUS."

OUTRO (length 00:06): Title graphic.

AND WE'RE HERE AT "AMERICA'S HOME COOKING" DOING HEALTHY RECIPES, AND WE'VE GATHERED TOGETHER OVER 130 TERRIFIC RECIPES IN A BRAND-NEW COOKBOOK. I JUST WANTED TO SHOW YOU THE COVER OF IT. THANKS TO ALL YOUR FRIENDS AND NEIGHBORS WHO SUBMITTED RECIPES IN THE CATEGORIES OF LOW FAT, LOW CAL, AND LOW CARB. BUT NOT LOW TASTE. NO, THAT'S REALLY IMPORTANT BECAUSE, WHETHER YOU'RE ON SOME SPECIAL DIET OR NOT, THESE ARE ALL RECIPES
THAT YOU CAN USE FOR YOUR OWN FAMILY, FOR YOURSELF, AND THEY WILL BE DELICIOUS AND SATISFYING IN A VERY SPECIAL WAY."

I MYSELF HAVE TO RESTRICT THE NUMBER OF CARBOHYDRATES THAT I HAVE. SO, ALL OF THESE RECIPES WORK FOR THAT KIND OF DIET. AND I HAVE A DISH THAT I LOVE TO MAKE, ESPECIALLY IN THE FALL AND THE WINTERTIME. IT'S CALLED PORK AND CABBAGE BRAISE.”

WE'RE HERE IN THE KITCHEN AT "AMERICA'S HOME COOKING" AND TODAY WE'RE DOING HEALTHY RECIPES. AND IT'S ABOUT TIME, BECAUSE IT'S LATER THAN YOU THINK. SO YOU HAVE TO GET HEALTHY AND ENJOY THESE YEARS. THAT'S RIGHT, AND TO HELP YOU DO THAT WE'VE GOT LOW CAL, LOW CARB, LOW FAT RECIPES IN ABUNDANCE TODAY, BUT NONE OF THEM ARE LOW TASTE. THAT'S RIGHT, AND WE'VE GATHERED THEM TOGETHER IN A TERRIFIC NEW COOKBOOK, "AMERICAS HOME COOKING: HEALTHY RECIPES." OVER A HUNDRED AND --ABOUT A HUNDRED AND --
OVER 140 RECIPES THAT ARE CATEGORIZED AND INDEXED AS LOW CAL, LOW CARB, AND LOW FAT, IN CASE YOU HAPPEN TO BE ON ONE PARTICULARLY RESTRICTIVE DIET. BUT YOU'LL WANT TO TASTE ALL OF THESE RECIPES, WHETHER YOU'RE ON ANY KIND OF DIET OR NOT. AND SO, WE HOPE YOU'LL CALL IN AND GET YOUR OWN COPY OF THIS,
AND WE'RE GOING TO DEMONSTRATE SOME OF THESE RECIPES. WE ARE, AS WE'VE SAID, WE'VE GOTTEN THESE RECIPES FROM VIEWERS WHO HAVE SENT IN THEIR FAVORITE HEALTHY RECIPES AND OUR FIRST GUEST IS A RETURN VISITOR TO OUR KITCHEN AND WE'RE DELIGHTED TO HAVE HER BACK, BARBARA KNEZOVICH.

BUT EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE, WE SLIP IN A PROFESSIONAL. WE HAVE A CELEBRITY WHO HAPPENS TO LIVE HERE IN THIS AREA. AND THAT'S ELSIE HENDERSON."

BUT YOU KNOW, IT'S REALLY, IT'S ONE OF THOSE THINGS THAT IS DESIGNED NOT TO HAVE FLOUR IN IT, SO FOR THOSE PEOPLE WHO ARE ON LOW CARB DIETS, THIS IS A TERRIFIC RECIPE."
Recipe #9: Flourless Chocolate Cake (Low Carb category)
