Rights Period: Unlimited PTV releases 3/1/03 thru 3/31/06

Description of the Program:
New and old family favorites are now served! Crock-Pots are making a comeback in America's kitchens. The convenience and ease of cooking with a Crock-Pot is the focus in this latest installment of America's Home Cooking: Crock Pots. The program reveals that cooking in a Crock-Pot goes beyond casseroles. From appetizers to side dishes, main dishes to desserts – almost anything can be done in a slow cooker.

Chris Fennimore, Host of America's Home Cooking comments, "Everyone's got one of these crock pots stashed in a closet or basement. Now there's incentive to dust them off and start making delicious meals that will please your family and save you time."

Description:
Wouldn’t we all like to come from work and find a hot, hearty and delicious home cooked meal waiting for us? That’s what crock pot cooking can provide and why it is a cooking method that is so popular with working families. The program gathered together over 100 recipes for everything from appetizers and side dishes to main courses and desserts that can be made in a slow cooker with simple ingredients and little effort. Chris Fennimore and co-host Nancy Polinsky start with an appetizer called “Liquid Lasagna” that can be used as a hot dip on toasted bread slices, a topping for pizza or even a hot salad.

Corned beef, Swiss cheese and sauerkraut are the classic flavors of the Reuben Sandwich and they combine for another party dip or topping. Soups are slow cooked to perfection in a Crock-Pot and Nancy demonstrates Italian Wedding Soup with tiny meatballs, chicken and greens. A simple Chicken Curry that is filled with exotic flavor represents ethnic favorites.

Another guest makes a spinach casserole that will please finicky eaters and we even have a Boy Scout leader who shows us how to make a camp favorite in a Crock-Pot. The heartiest dish of all is a four pork casserole that will take the chill off the coldest night of the year and fill kitchens with irresistible aromas. We also show two mouth-watering desserts a warm, chocolate lovers cake and an apple crisp.

The program runs three hours in total with convenient break points exactly on-the-hour so they can be run as three separate one hour programs. The format is the same as other AMERICA’S HOME COOKING. The cooking segments are from 8-14 minutes in length followed by a 7-8 minute pledge break. The last 30 seconds of the break is a premium roll-in so you can easily expand the break with local content before returning to the next cooking segment or you run it as a seamless virtual event.

The content is very accessible to a wide audience. That may account for its enormous success when it ran locally on WQED last March. Even though this was the 46th of their cooking marathons, CROCK POTS was the most successful of their local cooking shows with over $100,000 pledged on the first day of its airing.

There are Crock-Pots in nearly every home in America. This program and cookbook are the perfect impetus for people to drag them out from closet or basement and start making simply delicious meals that practically cook themselves.

Description of premium content:
When it comes to desserts, a cook is never short of options. Cakes, pies and ice cream are always a hit, but nothing comes close to a cookie in the sweet treats category. Cookies are pleasing to everybody, simple to make and the choices (chocolate, peanut better, nuts, icing) are endless. It's no wonder so many people cherish memories of making cookies from their childhood and carry on the tradition with their families through generations. This cookbook contains the best-loved family cookie recipes featured on the three-hour pledge event hosted by WQED's own Chris Fennimore.
Approximately 100 additional recipes not featured in the program are included in this cookbook. Ethnic Greek cookies, a Snickers Bar cookie and an elegant Vienna Tart with apricot filling are only a few delicious examples of the recipes found inside this book.

Soft cover, spiral bound, 122 pages, published November 2002.
