GENERAL INFORMATION

If there really were a Mother Goose, this would probably be her idea of the perfect home. It certainly is for Marie Stacey. She lives here and along with her niece Alice Macintosh, they take wonderful care of this unusual home.

From across the street, you can see that this storybook come to life looks like a cozy goose sitting down on her nest. And that's exactly what George Stacy, Marie's father-in-law, was aiming for. Though the planning and construction took some time, the house was completed in 1940 and it's been a highlight for travelers ever since.

And don't think for a moment that this house gets by on good looks alone. Inside it's a fully functioning two-bedroom home that just happens to be located next door to the Mother Goose Market. So the next time you find yourself on Highway 476, going through Hazard, Kentucky and you pass a giant goose on the side of the road, give her a honk. She'll appreciate it.
