A Blog Along The Lincoln Highway

All of this is about a public TV project about one of America’s great roads, and we’re hoping you might enjoy reading about some of our behind-the-scenes work. I’m Rick Sebak, and I write most of the tales. Bob Lubomski is our cameraman. And Glenn Syska has been traveling with us recently. He made the video blog entries in 2008. Back in 2007, Jarrett Buba did all that. A RIDE ALONG THE LINCOLN HIGHWAY first aired on PBS on October 29, 2008 at 8 PM. Check with your local PBS station to find out about repeat broadcasts. Or go for the DVD at www.shopwqed.org.

Stop by. Say hello. Ask about McKeesport.

November 21st, 2008 ·

So the Christmas season is starting.

Yeah, Thanksgiving is still almost a week away, but tomorrow evening, from 6 till 8, I’ll be signing DVDs and talking to people at the Borders in Northway Mall on McKnight Road here in Pittsburgh.   Actually if you go to the WQED website, look in the lower left corner, there’s a whole list of the places where I’ll be signing DVDs over the coming month or so.

In recent years, these signings have become a holiday tradition for me, and I know that I continue to schedule them with various bookstores because the hours I spend with Sharpie in hand, talking and laughing with folks puts me in such a good mood.

Unfortunately, the DVD of the new RIDE ALONG THE LINCOLN HIGHWAY isn’t ready yet (maybe the week after Thanksgiving, we hope) but in the meantime, I’m inviting folks around Pittsburgh (or farther if you feel like making a trip) to come by any of the scheduled signings, say hello, and then casually work this secret question into our conversation:  “Does the Lincoln Highway go through McKeesport?”

If you say that secret question, I’ll know you read the blog, and I’ll give you a pretty nice prize just for showing up.  You don’t have to buy anything.  Just ask about McKeesport.  We’ll discuss Lincoln Way too.  But I’ll have a small present for you (as long as my supplies last.)

Stop by.
