From hot dogs on a bun to cocktail wieners, Americans find hot dogs irresistible.
Consider these facts:

The famous actress Marlene Dietrich said hot dogs and champagne were among her favorite meals.

Baseball Hall of Famer Babe Ruth once ate so many hot dogs during a double header that he was rushed to the hospital with a severe case of indigestion. Rumors circulated that he was dead.

In 1995, three Seattle Seahawk football players, including quarterback Rick Meier, were fined $1,000 each for eating hot dogs on the sidelines of a pre-season game. The smell of wieners wafting down from the stands was simply irresistible to the hungry players.

Actor Bruce Willis found a hot dog stand the perfect location to propose to his wife, actress Demi Moore.

If hot dogs consumed in major league ballparks were laid end to end, they would stretch from Yankee Stadium in New York City to Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles.

The world's longest hot dog was 1,996 feet, made in honor of the 1996 Olympics.
