What is Area?
The measure of the amount of flat surface that an object covers. It can be measured in square inches, square feet, square centimeters, etc.

What is Density?
How heavy something is compared to how big it is. If you want to figure out something’s density, you divide how much the object weighs – it’s mass – by how big the object is – it’s volume. Write it like this:
Density = Mass/Volume.

What is Volume?
How big something is – or - the amount of space that an object takes up. You will find units of volume measured in cubic inches, cubic feet, or cubic centimeters.

What is Perimeter?
The distance around an object. It is measured in units of length like inches, feet, miles, centimeters or meters.

What does Miscible Mean?
Liquids that are able to be mixed, whose molecules merge and combine in one smooth mixture.

What does Immiscible Mean?
L
iquids that will not mix, whose molecules will not merge and combine into one smooth mixture.

What are Molecules?
The smallest particle of a substance that has all of the characteristics of that substance.

What is Mass?
How much an object weighs. It is a collection of particles, parts or objects that form one body.

What is an Emulsifier?
A substance that helps immiscible substances to stay together.

What is an Emulsion?
A mixture of two or more liquids that won’t separate when mixed together.
