Okay… with our big ‘ol pothole stop out of the way, the rest of the day was spent exploring Wilkes-Barre.  Dave & I have spent a bit of time in nearby Scranton during shoots the past few years for our TV documentaries, but not much time in Wilkes-Barre.  We went to Play It Again Sports because Frank was looking for cheap hockey sticks for his kids, but it was a no-go.  We stopped at Starbucks for the ba-billionth time this week and instead of doppio macchiatos, Frank & I were handed some sort of mocha things.  Yuk.  They might have to close down again nationwide for a few hours for a bit of re-training again…

Next stop Pittston (the home of our PBS brothers WVIA) for dinner by the river at Cooper’s Seafood House.  Dinner, while pleasant, turned into some sort of ‘Mystery Theater Fiesta’ due to Dave, Frank & I constantly trying to figure out exactly what was going on with everyone eating around us.  This also included our fine waitress.  Frank thought her name might be Jennifer, I thought it was definitely Stacy, and Dave went with Caitlyn.  Well when Frank went to the restroom we found out her name was Cara, a mighty nice 19-year old Pitt student who just happens to go to school right down the street from our home base of WQED in Oakland.  Cara was in on the scam and after a bit of dramatic acting revealed that her name was Katelyn (nice touch on the spelling) much to the devastation of Frank who insists his skills of reading people, places, things, directions, depths, accents, temperatures and pretty much everything are impeccable.  Kudos!  If you ever visit Cooper’s Seafood House, do yourself a favor and request to be seated in Cara the dental student’s section.  Just after dinner we called our good pal Tonia Caruso (host of Comcast Newsmakers & star reporter for “OnQ Magazine) to wish her a happy birthday.  It’s June 26th for the record… and she’s a spry 22!
