One thing we didn’t mention and one of the things that compounded our long driving day on Tuesday was a visit to the PBS station outside Scranton called WVIA.  It was around 9pm at night and the reason we had to stop there was to pick up a microphone.

My mic died in Erie.  I may or may not have been responsible for it.  I think I’m innocent but then again I thought OJ had a pretty strong case.  Since we needed a replacement, our Director of Engineering hooked us up with Chet at WVIA to loan us one until Friday.

Chet and fellow engineer Carl were the only ones home when we got there so they gave us the nickel tour.  Here’s their new high-def control room (right).  You see, that’s what PBS people do…they help each other out!  Let me see two NBC stations do that!

Of course they did force us to make a pledge but at least we got the mic…and a tote bag. – Dave R
