I love Mineo’s! Their great crust, plentiful toppings and zesty sauce make for a great pizza that is filling enough that it’s well worth the price.

And I’m going to have to respectfully disagree with Barb about Giovanni’s. After seeing it won an award from one of the local radio stations last year, we gave it a shot and immediately regretted it. The crust was too fluffy and I swear the sauce had sugar mixed in it. One I will definitely avoid in the future!

Mineo’s has great pizza, but it is way too expensive. Giving them a run for my money, Fiori’s on W.Liberty along with Giovanni’s on W. Liberty. For the best inexpensive pizza, try Pizza Italia in Bloomfield.

I have to give a shout out to the pizza I ate growing up – DiPietro’s in West View. Their pizza is a lot like Mineos with the really thick layer of cheese on top and the pepperoni buried underneath. Damn I’m getting hungry. I also should say Mandy’s right next to Perry High School is also really good. And like Dave H, I miss Regina Margherita for a truly yummy yet different kind of pie.

Pittsburgh is blessed with a few great pizza shops. In addition to the classic Mineo’s pie, I also like Beto’s, Vincent’s and the late, great Regina Margherita.

Mineo’s is definitely one of my favorites, but Aiello’s a couple doors up gives them a run for their money!
