Wagner Family Charities receives $15,000 donation in Waldron's honor

VERONA, Pa. (November 18, 2009) — Trimbur Insurance Agency announced today that Safeco® Insurance has honored Annette Waldron with its Community Hero award. The company has donated $15,000 to Wagner Family Charities in Verona, Pa. in honor of Waldron.

Safeco’s contribution was presented to Waldron by Safeco agent Tom Trimbur of Trimbur Insurance Agency. Trimbur nominated Waldron and Wagner Family Charities for the award through Safeco’s Agent Giving Program.

“Annette Waldron works tirelessly to care for children and help single parents get an education and enter the workforce,” Trimbur said. “Safeco’s award to Wagner Family Charities is a wonderful way to recognize her work and support our community.”

Waldron is executive director of the Wagner House, a nonprofit early childhood center founded as a legacy to her grandparents. Wagner House provides childcare, parental support services, Head Start programs, developmental screenings and referrals to programs that meet special needs of the children it serves.

Wagner House, started 13 years ago, is a part of Wagner Family Charities. It serves 12 single-parents who are enrolled in school or reentering the work force and their families at any one time. It has helped 60 families over the years, most of which have remained in touch with Waldron.

The Safeco Community Hero award recognizes individuals who make a positive difference in their community and inspire others to do the same. The award is part of the company’s Agent Giving Program, which provides support to nonprofit organizations that primarily support youth, health and safety, and civic and cultural programs.
