PITTSBURGH—WQED-FM 89.3 is proud to present the Pittsburgh Symphony Radio 2013-2014 series - available for classical public radio stations to air 52 weeks a year.
With Music Director Manfred Honeck leading the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, listeners will hear favorites like Mussorgsky’s Night on Bald Mountain, Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto, all of Bach’s Brandenburg Concertos, and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9. Listeners will also enjoy favorite performers like Lang Lang, Joshua Bell, Gil Shaham and Yuja Wang. Special programs will also be included, featuring Verdi’s 200th birthday program as well as a program highlighting the Pittsburgh Symphony’s European tour of 2012.
Pittsburgh Symphony Radio produced in partnership between the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra and WQED, consists of 26, two-hour programs hosted by WQED-FM 89.3’s Jim Cunningham. Cunningham is in his 26th year as executive producer and host of Pittsburgh Symphony Radio now celebrating its 32nd Anniversary. WQED has had a long-term on-air relationship with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra in regular series or specials since the television station went on the air in 1954 and WQED-FM 89.3 has been showcasing the Orchestra since it went on the air in 1973.
