OnQ Background, List of Specials, and Awards.
A brief description of WQED's Mid-Atlantic Emmy Award-winning local program, OnQ. Included is a list of specials and a list of awards.

WQED’s OnQ

The heart of WQED is its commitment to local programming. No other station in the market produces the amount of local programs that tell the story of the region and its people.

OnQ has been the centerpiece of WQED’s local programming and has covered stories in the quad-state region of Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia and Maryland since 2000. A winner of numerous Mid-Atlantic Emmy® Awards, OnQ aired an award-winning special on the Holocaust; a visit from PBS President Paula Kerger, hard times and optimism in Braddock and Brownsville, a special on East Liberty, a multipart special on bullying, the one-hundredth anniversary of St. Paul’s Cathedral, a story on the Little People convention held in Pittsburgh, a special on saving the Gettysburg Battlefield monuments, and town meetings on rebuilding communities.

OnQ is one of only about a dozen shows like it still being produced in the United States, and WQED is proud that it is here to serve the community.

OnQ is hosted by Mid-Atlantic Emmy® Award-winning Michael Bartley. OnQ has the ability to air longer features that take their time to examine an issue. It airs stories about the local arts and culture scene, business stories on the changing economy, and health care features that utilize the knowledge of the extraordinary medical complexes in the region.

On Friday nights, OnQ is OffQ, with a lively panel discussion on the week’s events hosted by Mid-Atlantic Emmy® Award-winning Chris Moore.
