Lopez, Judy Collins, and Michelle Phillips headline the taping
at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, August 20 at the Byham Theater in Pittsburgh
of the American Soundtrack concert series entitled “This
Land Is Our Land,” a blend of folk rock and pop music.
American Soundtrack, now in its fifth year on WQED in Pittsburgh
and on PBS nationally, is the 13th installment of the immensely
popular series produced by WQED Multimedia in Pittsburgh and
broadcast exclusively on PBS.
Artists
also scheduled to appear are the popular 1960s musical groups,
Spanky and Our Gang, The Lovin’ Spoonful, "A Serendipitous
Reunion," and The Hillside Singers. Other folk music icons
on the program include Tom Paxton, Tommy Makem, Erik Darling,
Jim Brady, and Scott McKenzie. American
Soundtrack: “ This Land Is Our Land” debuts on WQED
in Pittsburgh and on PBS stations across the country in December.

According
to George L. Miles, Jr., president and CEO of WQED Multimedia,
parent company of WQED tv13, the American Soundtrack series
is a venture to preserve American music culture from doo-wop
to folk to rock and roll to rhythm and blues.
“The
American Soundtrack series is the most successful series of
fundraising specials in public television history,” said
Miles. “Over 250 groups have come to Pittsburgh for the
tapings, in four years we’ve raised nearly $80 million
for PBS, and WQED is proud to bring Pittsburgh to the forefront
of the entertainment industry through the tapings and promotions
of these programs.”
American
Soundtrack concert series is a production of WQED Multimedia
in Pittsburgh, in association with Rhino Entertainment,
Executive Producer, T.J. Lubinsky.
