Icons of America's music assembled on November 26 and gave plenty
to a thankful, sold out crowd in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Who
wouldn't enjoy a concert featuring Aretha Franklin, Gloria Gaynor,
Jerry Butler, Lou Rawls, Mary Wilson and others? American Soundtrack:
Rhythm, Love & Soul, is the upcoming all-new, all-star concert
of WQED Multimedia's immensely popular American Soundtrack concert
series.
This show brings together the "giants" of R&B singing
their hits from 1960s and 1970s. The queen of soul, Aretha Franklin,
leads an all-star line up that includes Gloria Gaynor, Lou Rawls,
Mary Wilson, Jerry Butler, The Spinners, The Manhattans, Blue
Magic, Former Ladies of the Three Degrees, Dennis Edwards' Temptations,
Edwin Starr & The Originals, Peaches & Herb, Hues Corporation,
Tavares, Hugh Masekela & The Friends of Distinction, Bobby
Purify, Barbara Mason, Billy Paul, Freda Payne and Thelma Houston.

history," says American Soundtrack creator and executive
producer T.J. Lubinsky, "and
what's just as important is keeping the production here in Pittsburgh.
The entire nation looks to our city as the keeper of our American
pop music preservation."
Pittsburgh's
premiere broadcast of American Soundtrack: Rhythm, Love &
Soul will air Monday, February 3, 2003 on WQED TV13. The show
will air nationally on PBS stations in March 2003.
