"POVERTYNECK HILLBILLIES LIVE!"
Live concert performance premieres nationwide on Public Television

PITTSBURGH - The PovertyNeck Hillbillies are a country band from a small town in Fayette County, Pennsylvania who are taking the nation by storm! In July 2005 the band known for their high-energy shows performed a concert for public television. The program, entitled PovertyNeck Hillbillies Live! is now being distributed to public television stations nationwide (check local listings) through the National Education Telecommunications Association (NETA). The one-hour concert program showcases the band’s vocal and instrumental skills while capturing the excitement of their live performance. The high-energy set includes tracks from the band’s “Don’t Look Back” CD as well as fan favorites like Mr. Right Now, Hillbilly State of Mind and One Night in New Orleans. Young, good-looking, and able to whip the crowd into a frenzy, these seven talented men - complete with cowboy boots and a fiddle - are stomping their way to the big time. The Hillbillies have opened shows for acts including Vince Gill, Reba McEntire, Lynyrd Skynyrd, the Oak Ridge Boys and the Charlie Daniels band. They are the first unsigned band to chart on Billboard’s “Country Top 100” list. Great country music is not the only reason the PovertyNeck Hillbillies play to capacity crowds every night. They are in the business of entertaining people and that is their main goal every time they take the stage. Obviously, they are doing something right. They are Pittsburgh’s hottest and highest-grossing band. In June of 2005 the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette named the Hillbillies one of the top 50 creative forces in Pittsburgh.

A DVD of the concert, with bonus material that includes a one-hour documentary on the band and extra songs not in the television special, is available for purchase. The cost is $19.95 and can be purchased by calling 1-800-274-1307, or at Shop WQED.

The PovertyNeck Hillbillies are: Chris Higbee - fiddle, guitar, mandolin, banjo, vocals; Chris (Abby) Abbondanza - lead vocals, guitar; Bob Crafton - pedal, steel and electric guitar; Dave Cramer - keyboards, vocals; Ryan Lucotch - drums; Jeff Volek - bass, vocals; and David Guthrie (aka Junior) - electric and acoustic guitars, vocals.

“PovertyNeck Hillbillies Live!” is underwritten by The Hardy Family Trust, Cricket Communications Inc., Washington Wild Things professional baseball, Riverhounds professional soccer and Froggy radio.
