Following in the footsteps of Off Q, WQED Multimedia adds another 30-minute spin-off of OnQ magazine to its ever-growing roster of local programs. On Saturday, September 6, at 11:30 p.m., Dave & Dave’s Excellent Adventures makes its inaugural splash onto WQED tv13’s program schedule as a regular, weekly, local series. Dave & Dave’s Excellent Adventures will launch as a one-hour special on Thursday, September 4, at 8:00 p.m. on WQED tv13.

“This is Pittsburgh through two regular Pittsburgher’s eyes,” is how co-creator Dave Hallewell describes the program. Hallewell, along with Dave Rhodes, make up “the Dave’s” and have been regular correspondents for OnQ, WQED tv13’s live, nightly news magazine show, for the past 4 years. “Together, Dave & Dave explore the soft underbelly of this region through a unique blend of lighthearted comedy and slightly off-center reporting, all in an easily accessible ‘every-person’ style.”

Each 30-minute episode of Dave & Dave’s Excellent Adventures features 4 adventures from the vaults of On Q that are grouped together and intertwined with new material and never before seen outtakes to form a cohesive theme. Programs from the first season include “We Get Paid To Do This,” “Dream Jobs,” and “What To Do On A Friday Night.” The primetime offering will feature episodes sub-titled “Sin” and “Food.”

“Our program is proof that Pittsburgh has plenty to offer young people,” suggests Dave Rhodes. “Yes, Dave and Dave are two young people who choose to make Pittsburgh their home, and each episode of Dave & Dave’s Excellent Adventures is bursting with the people, the places and the things that make this region special and accessible to viewers of every age, especially Pittsburgh’s younger population.”

Dave & Dave’s Excellent Adventures is hosted, produced and edited by Dave Hallewell and Dave Rhodes, who spend their days as dedicated staffers at WQED Multimedia: Hallewell is senior producer/editor of on-air promotion, and Rhodes is the Emmy-nominated director of WQED Multimedia’s local programs. In addition to their series, “the Dave’s” will continue to deliver brand-new adventures several times a month to OnQ.

Dave & Dave also write and perform radio-comedy as weekly regulars on the “WDVE Morning Show,” each Wednesday, and are contributors to the pages of the new PITTSBURGH magazine and Pulp magazine.

WQED Multimedia’s flagship program, the Emmy Award winning OnQ magazine, airs weeknights on WQED tv13. It is live and it is local. Since its inception in January 2000, OnQ magazine has covered the region with in-depth, thoughtful pieces that showcase the people and places of southwestern Pennsylvania. The show has become the program of choice for those seeking comprehensive coverage of local news and important issues, with long-form feature reports. Hosted by Stacy Smith, with Chris Moore, Carol Lee Espy, Michael Bartley and Tonia Caruso, OnQ magazine airs weeknights at 7:30 p.m. on WQED tv13, with encore broadcasts Monday through Thursday at 11:30 p.m. and
12:30 p.m. the following weekday.
