PITTSBURGH, PA – WQED Multimedia and Dominion are now taking nominations for the 2005 Dominion Volunteer in the Arts (VITA) Awards.

Now in its 17th year, the Dominion VITA Award was established in 1988 to recognize the efforts of countless volunteers of all ages who give of themselves to help keep arts and cultural programs in Western Pennsylvania alive and thriving.

Each year, VITA awardees are selected from hundreds of nominations received. The winners are honored on the WQED website,, with on-air salutes on WQED tv13 and WQED fm89.3, and with a full-page ad in PITTSBURGH magazine.

The winning volunteer’s organization will receive a $1,000 grant in honor of its volunteer, and the Volunteer of the Year’s organization will be awarded an additional grant of $2,500, donated by the Dominion Foundation. WQED Multimedia and Dominion celebrate the volunteer honorees during a special luncheon in September, at which the Volunteer of the Year is announced.
