"I see capitalism and business as a force for good," says Ben Lewis, president and co-founder of PurBlu Beverages, a 2007 graduate of Shady Side Academy and now a freshman at the University of Pennsylvania. "I'm not going to tell you I don't want to make money - every company does. But at the end of the day, my ultimate goal is to do something positive for the community and the world." Lewis' new product line, GIVE Natural Spring Waters, sets out to do just that. "It's charitable bottled water. The goal of GIVE is to raise money and awareness for the causes that we support. So for each bottle a consumer buys, we donate 10 cents to the cause they select. There are three bottles currently. GIVE Life benefits impoverished children; GIVE Hope benefits breast cancer [research], and GIVE Love benefits the environment." GIVE Waters are available at Whole Foods Markets and Coffee Tree Roasters stores, with retail expansion under way. Customers also frequently request the addition of new causes. "Down the road there's a lot of potential to add other bottles," he says.
